Welcome to the Writing Skills Assessment
Welcome to Scribo’s Writing Skills Assessment. The assessment can be run across any cohort of students from Years 3 to 11.
These are the roles and high level steps involved in the assessment process.

    The school's community administrator (usually a teacher leading the project or a member of IT) prepares a list of students, teachers and classes that will have access to the system. This list is imported to Literatu Scribo – a process that usually takes seconds to a couple of minutes.

    Selected teachers login and assign the assessment to the classes that will be completing the assessment. This takes less than 5 minutes.
  3. 3.
    Students respond to a narrative or persuasive prompt using the Scribo app.
  4. 4.
    Scribo grades the texts instantly and collects detailed writing data.
  5. 5.
    Results are delivered online immediately, giving educators exact information on where student writing skills need more targeted help.
The assessment can be run in class or remotely. There is no compulsion to alter the logistics and timetables of a school to synchronise the test. The less stress involved in the execution of the test, the better and more accurate the results will be.
Writing skills are automatically assessed against a rubric, identifying a continuum of writing progressions from Years 3–10. The rubric is compatible with the NAPLAN 10-point analysis rubric.
An equivalent scaled score and band is also calculated which is compatible with prior NAPLAN data scales, allowing schools to continue their analysis. This data becomes a baseline from which improvements can be tracked over time with additional tests.
Scribo also reports detailed information about each student’s spelling, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary range, sentence use, and much more.


Reports can be viewed by cohort, class or student. All reporting offers flexible download to Excel options.
