Technical readiness

Literatu Scribo is an online web application, so there is no need to download or install any software. The minimum technical requirements to access and effectively use Scribo are described below. Please ensure your network, devices and browsers meet or exceed these requirements to minimise technical issues.

• Minimum screen resolution: 1280 width × 800 height

• Because Scribo is a writing application, we recommend the use of

  • Desktop or laptop PCs

  • Apple Mac

  • Google Chromebook

• We support the latest versions of the following browsers:

  • Google Chrome

  • Mozilla Firefox

  • Safari

  • Microsoft Edge

Cookies must be enabled in student and teacher browsers.

Extensions and plug-ins Though we disable browser spellcheck and right click in edit mode, we are not able to block the use of browser plug-ins or extensions that can assist students in their writing. Scribo does not lock the browser to restrict access to other websites.

Internet

We require a minimum internet connection of 56 Kbps. However, fluctuating bandwidth may occur which impacts performance. This occurs because of the number of concurrent users that the network is servicing at any point in time.

To the extent possible, please ensure that the network connection will adequately support the required number of students testing simultaneously.

Though Scribo will attempt to reconnect and save work if the network connection is lost, we suggest you organise a fallback with your students (especially remote), for example emailing their work to the teacher.
